Another great way to quit smoking!

This is perhaps the laziest way to quit smoking, but guess what it works!

You might have heard of Zyban, well this post is not about Zyban but for those of you who don’t know the drug, Zyban is an anti-depressant that has a side affect of causing you to want to smoke less. Zyban was never designed for quitting smoking and had some nasty side effects, personally I would not recommend it, but Zyban can work for some people.

Welcome Varenicline, which might be called Champix in your country. This is medication designed for one purpose only, to help you quit smoking easily. Its been engineered for this purpose, and yes it really does work, its about 60% more effective than Zyban.

To use it, you’re going to need a prescription from your Doctor, who will explain the pros and cons of taking it, I guess its not for everyone, especially not for pregnant woman.

Well I will tell you my experience with Champix.

You take it for a week, and continue to smoke while on it, You set a quit date, and quit on that date. I.E: You go cold turkey – throw away all your smokes, lighters, ashtrays and everything. Except there is one catch, one pleasant suprise - Varenicline/Champix works so well, that you don’t experience those nerve wreaking cravings, instead you feel almost completely normal, and not in need of a smoke. Now I am not kidding about this, it really works.

Varenicline/Champix does come with some side effects, and these side effects might not always be pleasant, but the way I see it dying of lung cancer at 40 seems far worse a deal.

In my experience these are the side effects I felt, these are all documented in the side effects section of the medication.

1. The one thing that I noticed is that I started dreaming vivid and lucid dreams, for the first week the dreams were really not pleasant, but during the second and following weeks, the dreams became normal but still vivid.

2. Passing Gas I see is mentioned, and this is true, basically you fart a bit more, but usually in the mornings and for the rest of the day its quite ok. Its really not like you turn into a fart machine.

3. unusual tiredness or weakness sometimes, but so far this is not effecting with my work, or my ability to wake up for work in the early morning.

4.  Nausea, this one is very real, and sometimes you feel slightly sea sick, still let me remind you, how good you’ll feel once you quit smoking, this drug is giving you freedom from your Nicotine addication, some nausea is part of the package.

5. Aware of your own heart beat sometimes, this might be funny if it wasn’t just a little disturbing, but it doesn’t last long, and certainly doesn’t feel uncomfortable.

Remember Champix is a ticket to quitting smoking, the side effects will pass once you stop taking the Champix. They recommend you take it for 3-4 months.
